An all new episode of South Park airs this Wednesday at 10PM on Comedy Central, 1112 Imaginationland Episode III.
Inside Imaginationland, Stan and Butters engage in the battle of their lives as they fight the army of evil imaginary forces. Meanwhile, Cartman goes all the way to the Supreme Court to get Kyle to suck his balls.

Jara, no offense if this goes out the wrong way, but there have been countless amounts of episodes in South Park that either poke fun at Christianty, Judaism, Buddhism, etc. My point is that Matt and Trey are pointing out the revelance of our intolerance to religions by saying that “Jesus is imaginary” so as to get peoples attentions about the issue. Its like Family Guy in a diff perspective. Its no supposed to be taken seriously. Again I apologize if this came out the wrong way for you.

Cartman is one of the most ingenious characters ever crafted for a cartoon. Not only is he reminiscent of Archie Bunker, whose character Cartman definately resembles, but Cartman (much moreso than the racist, anti-semetic bigot that he is) embodies the 7 deadly sins so well (Glutton, Wrath, Pride, Lust (A sick and sadistic fetish-like lust) Greed, Envy and Sloth) he’s also evil’s incarnate (503(?) – Scott Tenorman Must Die, wherein Cartman hatches a plot ending with Scott eating his parents, in a melange of juices and beans).
This makes him THE best character in South Park, and possibly in any cartoon ever crafted. Except for maybe Shikamaru (Hah.)

I am a psychology major who focuses on media studies. I love SouthPark and can think of nothing better than being able to make a career out of studying cartoons.
At the end of ImaginationlandIII, Kyle gives his little speech about why he thinks the characters are real – it’s a fantastic statement. Next week I am presenting research at a conference and would love to open with that clip, video preferably but audio alone would be okay too. Could someone point me in the right direction? I can’t think of a better way to start.

Frankly, if someone who believes in God or Jesus chooses to televise God or Jesus as being real, then someone who is an atheist televising God or Jesus as being imaginary is doing the same thing, that is, televising their own belief. Trey Parker takes a fairly neutral (and libertarian) stance on these matters and neither encourages or discourages them. Jesus in Imagination Land was absolutely appropriate for the show and can only be offensive to someone who has made themselves vulnerable by feeling their beliefs are superior. The fact that some people do not believe Jesus to be real is reason enough alone to for even believers to get a good laugh out of him being there. In any event, when South Park makes a direct attack on someone it is always overwhelmingly evident and it is clear that Jesus’ appearance was anything but ridicule.
